Ernesto (credited as “Sergio Goiry”) is a fucking dick. Why? For starters, he’s pretty bad with his wife Angelica (Gilda Garibay) & their two daughters since he lags it as a provider despite having the income to do so. Ahh, but I must mention that his source of income is in drug dealing and most of the money he makes ends up going to his mistress who’s totally not a great person either. Angelica’s parents are wealthy and are not fans of Ernesto at all, thus they try to help Angelica in anyway possible, but she never accepts it.

When Ernesto ends up in jail, Angelica works hard for his freedom which leads to any savings being drained out and having to work jobs she shouldn’t even have to do. They also end up living in a downgraded home. Ernesto is then set free and rather than coming back to get everyone back on their feet—he takes on a big drug deal which will fund his new life far away with his mistress! Of course though, this will not go as planned because 1) Ernesto’s mistress is planning to betray him with the big-shot drug dealer. 2) the cops are closing in on everyone! 3) Ernesto’s ego & morals begin to show. All this happening as Angelica continues to struggle & only her gay pals from the salon “Mario” & “La Paca” help her.

Amanecer Sangriento (roughtly translated as "Blood Dawn") is one hell of a dramatic film which will have your full-attention all the way through. What I found so fascinating about this movie is that it’s both a melodrama & a crime film at the same time! One half of the story being a melodrama of a woman struggling in life and the other half being about a man risking it all for the all-mighty peso. Even more interesting that this was written by Blanca Isabel Samperio aka Naty Samperio, an actress turned screenwriter and she wrote some very interesting stuff such as Esclavo Del Deseo, Asalto violento, Venganza Diabolica, and Tragedia De Waco, Texas. And leading lady Gilda Garibay (Samperio) just happens to be her daughter.
