After getting turned down in buying the local lagoon & large property from Diego Luzardo (Sergio Goyri), the greedy Don Paco & his son Nicasio (Luis Michel) decide to rid of Diego and the rest of the Luzardo family so they can easily gain the property they desperately want. As it turns out, the property is to be converted into a high-end luxury hotel for American tourists. This being fronted by Paco’s daughter Sonia (Imperio Vargas) with her old & fat American lover "Rudy".
Diego’s family is then brutally murdered by Nicasio and Diego manages to barely survive the ordeal and goes into hiding in the old mines of the mountainside. As Diego recovers, he hatches up a revenge plot with the doctor who aided him and the local gunsmith “Rafa” even builds him a custom rocket launcher that’ll surely blow everyone away.
Arma Infernal (translated as "Infernal Weapon") is a perfect example of a videohome with very little production value, but with very high-storytelling worthy of your attention. Arma Infernal goes beyond the usual action-revenge plot and also features plenty of drama amongst the characters. For example, we get to know the antagonists more so and given plenty of reasons to want them gone. Next to being greedy landowners & being power hungry, the Romo children (Nicasio & Sonia) have a incestuous relationship dating back to when they were kids—thus explaining why they’re so fucking weird when they’re both introduced & seen together. Then it all ties down to when we find out that Sonia used to date Diego and she left him because of her greediness and this is giving more reason of Diego wanting her gone and hating her fucked-up family.
Yeah, we’re glad that crazy-looking custom rocket launcher got used. A symbolism of revenge & hope basically.
Arma Infernal is a very entertaining movie and I actually liked it more than I thought I would. It’s got a very solid story, interesting characters, and a revenge plot we truly root to succeed. I will say though that the acting is pretty choppy often, but it can be overlooked. Fuck it.
